Mingueza wants Premier League move this summer

Latest from Your Site News' Patrick Rowe:

Soon-to-be free agent Oscar Mingueza wants to move to the Premier League this summer.

The Celta Vigo defender, capable of playing right-back and centre-back, is out of contract at the end of June.

Aston Villa and Newcastle United are among the Premier League clubs who have been tracking Mingueza.

Top clubs in Serie A and LaLiga are also interested.

Man Utd close to agreeing Ederson deal

Latest from Your Site News' Vik Varange and Lyall Thomas:

Manchester United are close to agreeing a deal with Atalanta for Ederson.

Talks are in the final stages over a fee in the region of 38m.

Sources expect the fee to be broken down into a 35m (40.5m) guaranteed payment plus 3m (3.5m) in add-ons.

A full agreement for the midfielder could be reached by the end of the week.

Your Transfer Digest!

It's been a busy last 24 hours of transfer news, here's what is on your morning agenda:

  • Manchester United are close to agreeing a 38m deal to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson.
  • Manchester City have no intention of pursuing move for Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez this summer. Their priority remains Elliot Anderson.

Beni Baningime departs Hearts but future unclear for Cammy Devlin

Hearts have announced the departure of Beni Baningime but have not provided any update on his long-term midfield sidekick Cammy Devlin, who is also out of contract this summer.

The Jambos issued a statement on Wednesday confirming that: Beni Baningime, Frankie Kent, Alan Forrest and Lewis Neilson will leave upon the expiry of their contracts this summer.

All four have made important contributions to the clubs success in recent years, and will move on to next stage of their careers with the best wishes and thanks of everyone at Hearts.

All four players depart with our sincere thanks and appreciation.

Baningime is a particularly high-profile departure given that he was a regular starter and popular among supporters throughout his five years at Tynecastle, although ultimately Jamestown Analytics, Hearts data analysis partner, holds heavy sway in terms of whether player are offered new contracts.

While there are no surprises over winger Forrest and defenders Neilson and Kent moving on, it is notable that there is no mention of Devlin on the clubs latest update.

The Australia midfielder is out of contract and exploring his options. Hearts are keen to keep Devlin but it remains to be seen if they can find a way to make it happen without breaking their wage structure.

The shock departure of Lawrence Shankland, the Jambos captain and highest earner, to Rangers this week may allow the club some extra scope for an improved offer for a player who has become a firm fans favourite since his arrival in 2021.

Man City have no intention of signing Enzo Fernandez

Latest from Your Site News' Lyall Thomas:

Manchester City have no intention of pursuing move for Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez this summer.

Reports have credited City with an interest but Your Site News has been told that is not the case.

Citys priority remains the signing of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest.

Your Site News exclusively revealed last month that City are in pole position to sign Anderson, with the increasing expectation that he ends up at the Etihad this summer.

Fernandez is valued at more than 100m but Chelsea are not trying to sell the player.

He has a Chelsea contract until 2032.Fernandez was dropped for two games in April after he admitted he would welcome living in Madrid.

The player and his agent also apologised for his comments.

They had been seeking improved terms at Chelsea.

Real Madrid will sign a midfielder this summer and Fernandez is one of their top targets. Chelsea signed him from Benfica for 121m in January 2023.

What does Barcelona's Gordon interest mean for Rashford?

With Barcelona now making a move for Newcastle's Anthony Gordon, what would that mean for Marcus Rashford's future?

Rashford said earlier this month that he wants to stay at Barcelona beyond his loan this season.

After scoring as Barcelona secured the LaLiga title  the Manchester United forward was asked about his future by reporters.

He said: Im not a magician but if I was, I would stay.  So, lets see.

Your Site News reported last month that Barcelona are interested in the idea of a second loan for Rashford next season.

There is an option to buy him permanently in the current deal but Barcelona are reluctant to meet the 26m price.

Your Site News has previously reported United have no intention to renegotiate, however, and so Barcelona are considering making another loan proposal when talks renew at the end of the season.

The Spanish club's interest in the likes of Gordon and Julian Alvarez could also be a factor in their squad planning.

Rashford remains under contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2028.

Barcelona join race to sign Newcastle's Gordon

Latest from Your Site News' Keith Downie:

Barcelona have joined the race to sign Newcastle forward Anthony Gordon

Newcastle are now in talks with both Bayern Munich and the Spanish giants over the 25-year-old.

Gordon was an unused sub in Newcastle's last four games, as they protected him ahead of a summer move.

He has four years left on his contract, and Newcastle are looking for around 75m for the winger.

Souness hits out at Salah for manner of Liverpool exit

Former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness expresses his 'disappointment' in Mohamed Salah's exit at Liverpool, saying the Egyptian forward should've left the club more 'gracefully'.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd still keen on Villa's Rogers

Latest from Your Site News' Lyall Thomas:

Aston Villa qualifying for the Champions League will have little bearing on the future of Morgan Rogers, Your Site News understands.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United all remain interested in signing the forward and Villa are still expected to listen to offers around the 80m mark.

Although Champions League windfall helps their spending power, the sale of Rogers would also significantly benefit Villas ability to reinvest in other areas of the squad.

Rogers signed a new contract until 2031 last November, putting Villa in a strong negotiating position with regards to their star man.

It remains to be seen whether one of the interested clubs, which also includes Paris Saint-Germain in the background, approach Villa before Rogers goes to the World Cup with England.

Rogers, who signed from Middlesbrough in January 2024, has scored 31 goals in 125 appearances for Villa, with 29 assists, including 14 goals and 12 assists this season alone.

Schmeichel announces retirement

Kasper Schmeichel has announced he has played the last match of his career.

The Celtic goalkeeper admitted back in March then he might have played his final game.

The shot stopper, who won the Premier League with Leicester, needed surgery on a shoulder injury that would keep him out for a year.

"When my contract with Celtic expires in June, I will stop my active football career," Schmeichel announced to TV2.

"It is a decision that has been made for me. I have consulted various surgeons and experts in relation to my shoulder, and they have told me that I should not expect to return to playing top football.

"I have given myself a lot of thought, but I believe that now is the right time."
